Goth Dance

Yes, lots of black eyeliner is needed at the goth club, for boy and girls. I HAD A GREAT TIME! The outfits were great! One girl had on a skull cap with devil horns and then she had on bat wings. It was cool. I even saw guys in skirts with more changes that I thought could fit on them. The music was mostly techno, which I like. They did do some slower stuff (not slow dance music though) and that was when the goths really boogied! Their style of dance is very fluid and focused only on you and not everyone else. It's pretty cool. I tried it, and I just kept laughing. I was told by a goth that I had to be more mopey and somber. Oh well. I was smiley and laughing all night. My friend and I watched the dancing for a while and didn't join right away. There was a scary guy who kept dancing near where we were sitting and staring at us. Hummm... he was just creepy. My friend went to the bathroom at one point and I stayed to watch the dancing. This huge goth dude asked me first why I wasn't dancing and then told me we need to get out there. When we finally did dance he wanted to dance with me. I feel bad, but I used my friend as a bit of a shield. Being that I'm married, I'm not there to meet boys. In fact, I just wanted to have a fun night out. My friend is also married so we had a great time together! I want to go again some time! I'll try to be more mopey and somber next time! HA HA!
PS- I think I've got the hang of putting on eyeliner. It looked decent and not like a total train wreck... all though train wreck would have fit in nicely! ^_^

ESOL Job

Here's my job in a nut shell. Enjoy! ^_^
OK, well... I don't teach my kids about beer. When I taught adults we talked about these things though! ^_^

My normal life

Well, I'm trying to get done as much of my "normal" stuff today as I can. I always clean up on Sundays. I do the laundry, the dishes, take out the trash, and clean up after rabbits and us. However, going out tonight will put a stop to that "normal" stuff for tomorrow. I have a feeling I'm going to sleep all day tomorrow. I'm driving, so I won't have any drinks, but I can't live without my sleep! I still have not got the hang of this eyeliner thing yet! As long as I don't look like a train wreck, I'll be OK! Here's a cute fairy goth that I found when checking out what kind of outfits are acceptable for goth people. I think I'll go punk and stand out like I always do! HA HA!

Not so Girly

I'm not a girly girl. I never have been. Tomorrow my friend is taking me to a goth club.
"What do I wear?" I ask naively
"Black and eyeliner." was my answer.
"hummmm.... OK"
Oh crap, I don't know how to put on eyeliner. The only time I've wore it was when someone else puts it on me. So, a trip to Wal-Mart and I'm now the owner of some eyeliner and new eye shadow. OK, eye shadow I get. I know how to put it on when it's one color. I got the kind that has three colors. Oh no, now what do I do.
*GOOGLE IT*
OK, I found a great web site that has these great videos that show me how to do the three color eye shadow and the eyeliner. Great! I watch it, and now with my new knowledge I try it out.
*I LOOK LIKE A FREAK ACCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME!!!!*
Crap, I don't think I'll ever be a girly girl. Maybe I can get it to look somewhat normal... although, my freak look might fit in nicely at this club! Oh well....

Crazy Days

This week is going pretty quick. Monday full by and Tuesday did too. Today was pretty good, my afternoon was a bit nuts, but otherwise it was ok. Now that the weather is getting nice I've noticed that my morning drive is getting worse. Yes, I don't want to be awake at that hour, but it seems that the other drivers are getting madder everyday! Today I had a guy who couldn't fit between me and the car ahead of me, but he tried it anyway and then cussed me out for being in his way. What is wrong with people? Ahhhhh....

Knitted/ Spun Stuff

Here's a scarf that I started the other day and I thought that I should finish it today before I get too involved in another project! Yesterday I took that shawl that I was stuck on and I did get the help I needed! I know what I did wrong and how I need to fix it (rip it out and start over). However, I am totally being called my my wheel to spin this red that I got yesterday. Here's a pict, however it is NOT orange like the pict shows!
Here is the red fiber before it is spun:
And finally, here are the Mary Jane crocs that my hubby bought me last night! Aren't they cute?? I love them and I love him! ^_^

Spinning In The Sun

Spinning outside today at the guild meeting. It was so nice! I got a terrible sun burn, but it was so nice to sit outside and be in the spring air. I finished my purple bobbin that I had been working on. I had about 2 oz. left and my friend had bought the same purple a while ago, but she ran out when she was knitting a pair of socks. I offered to trade with her my purple for something that she had. She gave me 2 oz. (she weighed it to see if they were even!) of this olive green and brown fiber that she had. It should spin up pretty cool. Then (like I could leave a meeting without buying something!) I got this BEAUTIFUL red and black super wash fiber. It's a bit harder to use than anything I've had before. I think that it will be good once I get the hang of it. I started it today and so far it looks amazing, but it's not as nicely spun as some of my other stuff. I plan on sitting on my front porch tomorrow and spinning again. My porch is out of the sun, so no more sun burns! ^_^ I love spring!

Guild Day

Ahh, the third Saturday of the month, that can only mean one thing... it's spinning guild day! After my great observation my week defiantly went down hill. My post observation was great then I asked about tenure and found out that part time is not prorated for tenure. I had no idea! I was a bit devastated and mad about that. I met with the director of ESOL to see what my job will look like (or if I'll still even have one) for next year. It looks like right now that my job will be there, but it's going to decrease how much I actually work. That sucks. So, today I plan to enjoy the guild meeting and RELAX!
I am also bringing along some knitting that I can't for the life of me get to go. I found someone who had made the same shawl and she said that there was a mistake in the pattern. When I e-mailed her about it I never got a response. Last guild meeting, one women told me that lace is her favorite thing and that she'll help me get it going. I bought this kit and started it back in October. I haven't looked at it in a few months. I just happen to be talking to the right person about it last meeting. I hope that she is there today so that I can get the help I need on it! ^_^

Pressure Off

Today was my last observation for this year. Ahhhh, I feel so much better now that it's done. My lesson went great and my student was into what we were doing today.
Tomorrow I will meet with the head of my department to see if I will have a full time job next year or if I need to think about looking for a new one. That is a little stressful, but today I'm not going to think about since I feel so good about today!
My hubby called a little while ago. Over vacation we had to go to the hospital for him because he needed stitches for his finger. Today he fell at work and called me to tell me that he needs ice in the freezer for him. Oh man!

A Prayer for Virginia Tech

This a.m. when I got up I whined about the cold, and my drive back to work. However, my whining stopped when I heard about the tragedy at Virgina tech today. I had planed to blog about the crappy weather, but I can't complain about my life today when others have lost theirs.
I pray for the families of the victims and the people who were wounded in the killing spree. I don't know why these things happen. How can another human bean run into a classroom and shoot the teachers and students? The death toll is currently at 32. I'm sure it could go up depending on the injuries. I can't understand.
I pray that the wounds on that campus can heal and that the families will be able to put their lives back together. My heart goes out to them and I know that the heart of the nation is behind them too.

End of Vacation

Ahhhhhh.... the end of vacation (sniffle). I'm so sad it's over. I so enjoyed being able to spend time with my husband. It's been great.
Anyway, since this is supposed to be about knitting, here's something that I was working on over break. Yes, those are doughnuts in the picture. Yummy.... anyway, it's a half poncho, but the pattern was wrong. I rewrote part of it, and here's what it looked like so far.
I did finish it, and it would only fit a small child. I don't know about that pattern. Oh well. I tried it, it's done. I most likely won't do it again. Too bad, the picture of it was cute (not my picture, the one in the catalog.)
Here are the shoes that got over vacation. The blue ones are my crocs, and the black ones are my adidas sandals. I can't wait to wear them, but right now seeing as it's April and it's snowing out don't see that happening any time too soon!

The Penny Pincher

Tonight is the last night of my hubby's vacation. This vacation was great. We were able to make some progress on the bathroom project. However, we did make a short visit to the hospital for my husband's finger that had a small problem with a metal fan duct. It only needed a few stitches and this big sock like bandage.
Tonight is the first time that he can take off the sock and clean the stitches. We thought that it would be nice to go out to dinner and then stop at the store to get gauze so when I help him wrap it back up it's nice and protected. Dinner was great. We went out for Mexican food. Yummy, spicy goodness! In this restaurant there is a fountain. It only has water in the bottom of it, but it use to have water on all three of the tiers. Many people (mostly, children and daydreamers like me) throw coins into it to make wishes. As we were munching on our chips and salsa I saw this guy in a button down shirt pulling the pennies out of the top tier. I asked my hubby what he was doing. I assumed that it was the manager and that he was unclogging it so that they fountain could be run to it's full fountainess. How wrong I was! Hubby tells me that this guy has a small girl with him. HE WAS PULLING THE COINS OUT SO SHE COULD THROW THEM BACK IN!!!!!!!!!! What the hell?!?!? You can't do that! That's like telling people what you wished for when you blow out the birthday candles! I HOPE KARMA BITES HIM IN THE A**!! I was shocked. In a restaurant full of people, this guy is taking the pennies out so that he could amuse a small child. Crazy! I think he should have coughed up a few of his own pennies so that she could make real wishes on them. It didn't look like this guy had want of food, or lack of clothing. He was not a beggar on the street, he was dressed in nice pressed pants and a button down shirt (hence, why I thought he was the manager!). If we were in the city and it was a cold snowy night and this guy had no other options I could see it, but a restaurant so that his kid could have a good time. I think that's ethically wrong! Unbelievable is all I can say!

Snowy Monday

Hubby and I are still in our hometown today. We went out for breakfast and now he is going to get a pump started for his dad. I guess this pump is going to be used to help the neighbor take the water out of his pool at the end of the summer. Hubby has to get it started and tune it up for them. After that we'll head home. Maybe we'll take some time to work on our bathroom project. We both want to get our hair trimmed over vacation. I'm happy that we'll be able to work on our projects a lot! Maybe we'll get a lot done! That would be amazing! ^_^

Happy Easter!

I'm on vacation now! Friday I went home to shop with my mom. She is teaching me about girly stuff, like which face wash is a good one and how to use eye lash curler. We had a great time shopping together.
Saturday I went up to the outlet with my ESOL friend who graduated with me. We were supposed to go to Toronto, but with the weather being so cold and both of us sick, we didn't go. We did however had a great shopping day.
Today is Easter Sunday! Happy Easter! ^_^ We are eating a nice Easter dinner together tonight as an extended family. Enjoy the day! ^_^

Back To Work

Monday I was home sick and Tuesday I was also home sick. Not fun! I called the Dr. and they gave me advice on what to do. I feel much better now. Since I felt better, I went back to work today.... maybe I should have stayed in bed! My first half of the day was great! The kids were good, and we got though most of our work that I had planned for them. It was nice. About lunch I was feeling a bit drained, but I only have one more class at that point and I could tough it out. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
First, my room was commandeered by the music teacher. She came in and said "Oh, I should have e-mailed you, but we needed your space." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? How on God's green earth am I supposed to do my job?!?!?! I now had 5 minutes to scramble around and find a new room (NOT MY CLASSROOM!!!!!) so that I could teach my kids. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!! How is it that another teacher could tell me that they are taking over my classroom? Can I take over theirs tomorrow??? Seriously, that was out of line. I'm just a little mad about that.
Then, my kids were mad that we couldn't be in our room so they were nutty today. we have to get ready for a presentation that they are giving tomorrow. Ahhhh... Now I'm home and I'm trying to relax.
Tomorrow is the last day before vacation. I think my kids are going to be so amped up that I'd like very much to stay home. I'm going in and we'll try to get though it all.

Fun Times

Friday was pretty much a waste. I went to the Dr. in the a.m. and got my meds. Sat reading a book which turned out to be pretty poorly written. I kept thinking that something good was going to come next and then I finished it and nothing good came. The writer is new to writing and really didn't know how to connect his thoughts. The critics all gave him praise. I give it two thumbs down. Really bad. So, like I said, Friday was a waste, for the most part.
I did however, get a phone call from Monica, my belly dance bud, and she had news so juicy I would have fallen over if I was standing up! The dance studio offers exotic dance classes that run for five weeks. The girl who was teaching it is awesome and fun. I took it for five weeks (there was no stripping involved), and it was fun, but not something I would comment to taking every week for the rest of my life. Five weeks was a good limit for me. However, the teacher has decided that she is so busy teaching other classes that she would give up teaching it. This class is popular, so the owner needed to find a new teacher. This is the part where I would have fallen over... the women that they have asked to do it is in my belly dance class (mind you, she can't remember my name for the life of her and we've been in the same class for like a year together!!!). Normally, I don't hate people. As a general rule, I strongly dislike them, but hate is a powerful word. This girl, I HATE!!!!!!! Ugggg! She drives me insane! First off, she is NOT sexy (um, hello, exotic dancers are SEXY!), and second off she has never danced as an exotic dancer in her life! She has only taken the class. That would be like hiring me to teach you to sky dive. I have NEVER sky dived before! I want to, but that does not qualify me to teach anyone how to do it! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... I think this is the last straw. I love belly dance, but crap like this makes me want to quit going there. Now, this girl also was inducted into the pro troupe a few weeks ago. She has gotten quite the chip on her shoulder from that. Now, that chip is going to be a huge brick! Ok, enough complaining about that!
Last night, I had a wonderful time. My hubby and I went out to dinner and after I went over to my former student's house for a party that they were having. It was nice to visit with them and see some of my former coworkers.
Today, I have a few things to do this a.m. (one of them is a date with my PlayStation... he misses me!). Then, tonight I'm going over to a friend's house to have her dye my hair. Currently. it's my natural color of dark brown.... after tonight it should be raven wing black! YEAH! I always wanted black hair after I read the book Anne of Green Gables. Her best friend had raven wing black hair and I always thought that sounded so cool. So, tonight I'll get my raven wing black hair! HA HA! ^_^
