Square Peg In Round Hole

That's how I feel today. Yesterday was a mess, I am pretending that I never went though it. This week I had no Tuesday. That's how bad it was. I got yelled at for have good manners and was told I needed to fix that problem. WHAT???? I felt like I was yelled at all day for stupid things that sometimes in my control and sometimes not. Oh well.
If it wasn't for bad luck, I would have had no luck at all yesterday. Hubby and I went out to dinner with a couple that we get together with sometimes. It was a great dinner, and then we watched the movie 300 together. That was a great movie... a little Brave Heart feeling, but still well done. On my drive home (we drove separate since I was coming from work) BOTH not one, but BOTH of my headlights were out. Who has that happen to them??????? I had to drive with my high beams on, blinding everyone on the road so that I could see to get home. It was not a fun day for me.
Tuesday never happened.

It's Tuesday

I was right (self-fulling prophecy maybe?) that yesterday was painfully long. I'm not sure what made it so long but it was. Yes, the kids were trapped inside all day due to rain, however, it was good for the grass seed that I put out the other day.
I spent a lot of time yesterday knitting my vest when I got home. I'm really happy with the progress that I made and it's starting to take some shape. It's not looking like an unknown knitted object anymore! I have a lot more to go, but I am about a quarter of the way though it now. I have not worked on my socks in a few days... I will get back to them soon.
Yesterday a coworker didn't believe that I spin. She thought this was very funny and had a good giggle over my odd hobbies. So, today I am taking in some stuff that I've spun and knit so she can see what I'm talking about. She's a cool person and last year she gave me fairy wings as an end of the year gift! I pranced (yes, pranced!) around the school with them on the last day! It was a great time! I might have to do that again this year to celebrate the end of the year! ^_^

Fiber Fun

The rest of my weekend was spend washing, carding, and spinning the fiber study samples that I got... I did finish my sample of the Romney and started another one while I was at it. I even washed two pounds of the fleece I got...talk about NASTY! OMG, it IS so filthy and smelly.... yet, I am quite pleased with how much dirt actually came out of it. I think it needs another washing or two to make it white again, but I'll get there.
Today is looking so dreary. We are still testing kids this week and it's going to be a long day... any day were they can't go out for recess is a LONG day! Hence why I think winter days are so painfully long!
After school today I plan to work some more on carding and spinning....oh yeah, so knitting too! I kind of jump whole hearted into one project get about half way and jump into another project. It's just the way I am. Some times I even go back and finish the ones that I started. I have not abandoned the three knitting projects that I have right now, I'm just taking a small rest from them. HA HA, I know I have to finish them, so I am still working on them. ^_^

Motivated!

Spinning at the shelter was a great time!! There was six of us who were spinning, and we were paid handsomely!!!! By handsomely, I mean we were paid if FIBER! One of the master spinners helped me pick out which fleece was good quality and one I could spin. She then took a small sample of each fleece to show me what the differences were and how to clean them.
After we put my fleece in the car, we needed to clean the samples that we got. To many women's horror, we washed them in the ladies room sink. She was chatting away about how clean it was looking and now it was all white....other ladies were chatting about how crazy we were! HA HA, they have no idea about how cool this experience was for me. This lady is an amazing spinner. She is taking courses to become a master spinner, so to have her show me all this was so great! She showed me a new way to spin so that the ending yarn is very light and fluffy! It was so great!!!!!
My fleece came in a HUGE black trash bag and NEEDS to be cleaned... my car was a little bit stinky on the drive home. I'm so motivated to work on my fleece study stuff that I got, but haven't touched. Right now, while I writing I have a tub of Romney wool soaking. I thought I should start somewhere, so I picked one that I have spun before. I hope it will come out as white as our quick wash of the samples at the animal shelter. We did have a hard time drying them there, but it was good enough for a quick study in fiber. I'll take photos of my project when I have the Romney card all completed.

Sunny Sunny Days

A week of sunshine can do amazing things! All my plants that I planted last year are coming back!!!! This is a huge deal to me, since I really thought that because I'm new to gardening that to spite me they wouldn't come up again. However, it seems that they like it here and are willing to stay!
My husband climbed one of our trees the other day to take down some bigger branches that were rubbing the power lines. I admit that I like chain saws (one of the few power tools that won't phase me), however, when it is dangling 10-15 feel above me head, I'm not such a fan. Hubby took the chain saw up to help him lop the branches off. Chain saws buzzing = summer!
The weather this week has been so nice!!!! I love it! I don't mind traveling so much for my job now that the weather is nicer. It's not so bad.
Today is also supposed to be beautiful!!! I'm off to the animal shelter farm to do a spinning demo today. I sent out an e-mail to all the buildings that I work in about so, they might have more people show up then they were thinking.... a few teachers asked if they could send notes home about it with the kids. Sure, why not! HA HA! It's going to be fun! I'm excited about it and it's a perfect day to be out there demoing! ^_^

Crazy Project!

I thought I could whip out this little bolero... it looked so easy and cute. I was almost done when I realized that I had messed up somewhere. So, I took it over to the yarn shop to get some help ripping it out ( I can't rip out... how sad is that!) and to help me fix it. Lo and behold, that was not to happen. It was ripped out, but then we couldn't get it fixed.
OK, I'll take it to the guild meeting! There my friends can help me fix it! How smart!
Again, not to be... it all had to come out now. So, my friend ripped it out while I tried not to look at all my hard work being pulled out in about 10 minutes. Oh so sad!
So, here we are again... I have taken my time, and I'm back to where I was when I messed up the first time. This time the pattern is right.... however, now my stitch count is off. Are you kidding me??? I walked though the next part of the pattern, and it works out perfectly... I'm so confused! I think I'll put in a life line and take it to the shop again, to see if they can help me figure out what's going on.
Here's how it looks right now... so cute, I hope I can figure it out!!!
My Vogue Knitting magazine is hiding under it... I found some really cute patterns in there... they will have to wait. I need to finish my socks, the vest, and this little bolero before I can knit something new!!!

DDR Superstars!

Last night I had a teacher friend come over for dinner and some serious Dance Dance Revolution! She is so sweet and offered to bring some wine and a salad for our get together. Cool, anyone who brings wine to my house is my friend!!
She also had a lovely appetizer that was sooooooooooooo yummy! So, we enjoyed a few glasses of wine and appetizer before dinner was ready. I made cheesy rice bake for dinner since she LOVES the rice from my rice cooker. Yeah, for rice cooker that was a pain in my rear to get though customs last time I went to Japan...however, it really makes great rice! So, dinner, salad, and more wine was called for. It was nice to get together outside of school. We had a great time chatting and laughing. I even made strawberry shortcake for dessert.
We opted to wait on the shortcake and burn off our dinner with some serious DDR play. She has never played before, so we went through the tutorial and then moved into game play. She got the hang of it really quick! I had so much fun and I hope we do it again soon!!!
After that, we enjoyed some strawberry shortcake and LOTS of whipped cream on it....yum.
We totally think we rocked at DDR. Now, I'm ready to challenge the bride when we go to Japan again! HA HA!

Sunday Fun

Today I've decided that I want to make Chicken Pot Pie for dinner. I got this cookbook for my wedding shower, and the only thing that I've made out of it is the chicken pot pie! Last time I made it is was so good. I have to go to the store to get some of the ingredents, and I'm going to pick up some stuff for something I want to try to make Tuesday night too.
I have also been working on my sock, well, only 2 rows or so were knit yesterday... here's how it's looking:It's so nice to see the sun today! Here are my tulips:And, rabbits were out bouncing around while I was knitting:
Sorry that the last one is so blurry... Tira wouldn't hold still!

Gray Sky

Yesterday it rained all day. YUCK! Today the sky is gray again. We had some fog and misty like stuff hanging around when I got up today. However, my tulips are slowing getting bigger and ready to show their beautiful blossoms! Last year I had red and yellow ones. I also had some that were yellow with red streaks, and red with yellow streaks! It was really pretty. I can't wait to see what I have this year!
Now, I am think about our trip to Japan. I talked to the bride on chat this a.m. and of course we were just silly! I can't wait to see her! I know that my husband is happy that we can see each other so that I will have new stories to tell about the two of us! My stories about us a bit old and he's only heard them like a million times! Now wonder he feels like he knows her so well! I worry about her fiance... like my hubby he only knows his home language. I hope that we don't scare him!! The bride and I can get kind of, well, we get silly! I'm so excited and happy that I got to talk with her! I found a really cute polka dot dress that I think would be cute for the wedding... I think. I have to try it on and see, but I think it would be prefect! My shoes that I got a few weeks ago would look great with it! See, 4 months to go and I'm already planning what I will pack! I still have the rest of the school year to get though! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....
Today is relaxing and spending time with my hubby. It should a a nice day even if the sky is gray!

VACATION!!!!!!

Report cards have been turned in, kids have been taught, it is time for 10 days of relaxation!!! I'm so happy!! Today of course, I woke up at my working time wake up without the alarm clock... not so happy about that. I make myself go back to bed to sleep in longer. Now that I'm up for the day I have already started the laundry and made some breakfast. I plan on shopping and reading a book, and maybe even playing my beloved Play Station. Ahhh, it's so nice to not have an agenda!
The other day I was surfing around for silly stuff to escape writing my report cards and I found this site: http://www.skelanimals.com/products_collectibles.html. I thought it was morbid and cute all at the same time! My hubby thought it was funny when I showed it to him last night. I like the rabbit one. After looking for them on Ebay I found a funny hoodie that had the bat saying "I still bite". This to me was hilarious! Dark yet funny!
I have been working on my second jitterbug sock and I am almost done with the ribbing. Hopeful I can get picts up this week since I have a lot of free time! ^_^

National Mascot Day

On one of my school calenders was marked that today was National Mascot Day. We were going to have an assembly to celebrate our mascot... however, my other schools were not doing this. I was not at that building this morning, so I had no idea how the assembly went. I got quite a shock when I got to that school and found out that National Mascot Day was a hoax.
One of the teacher had set up a power point with facts about the animal that we have as a mascot. Another teacher was reading it. Some of the facts were kind of odd, but no one thought anything about it. When she was done reading the teacher who had made this power point got up and he said " sorry, but there is no National Mascot Day. I wanted to know if Miss X (the reader of the power point) would marry me?" It was videoed and everything!
What a sweet surprise for her!! I wish them the best and they are a very sweet loving couple! Happy National Mascot Day! HA HA!

Spring!!!

This weekend has been beautiful!! The weather has been so amazing! I was out raking my leaves, and seeing what plants are starting to come up. My black-eyed Susan's are coming up! My front yard has tulips, some pretty green thing that has nice white flowers, and my crocuses.

Today I was working on my report cards. They are due tomorrow, so I wanted to get them done before I did anything else today! I'm also working on my second sock today. My goal is to get it done before we go to Japan so that I can work on a new sock pattern while we're there (yes, I want to take my knitting with me!).
I love spring!!!
