I know our big trip back to Japan is a few too many months away at this point, but that isn't stopping me from getting us ready! My hubby told me that he wants to start trying Japanese food before we go so he can see what he likes. When I was living in Hokkaido, he came to visit me and he was launched into a new world of food. It was way overwhelming for him and I wasn't a very big help. So, a few weeks ago, we had some sushi to see if he liked it. It was OK he tells me. Great, we are getting somewhere now!
Suddenly, he has started coming home and wanting to drink tea. Hubby has always been a coffee dinner; black coffee dinker. Now, he's trying every kind of tea he can! Lucky thing that I love tea and have a ton of different kinds stashed around the house! He likes Oolong tea and Irish Breakfast teas the best so far.
So, last night we are going to go out for dinner. I really wanted to go out for BBQ, but the place I like is downtown and there was a concert or something so we couldn't even get near the place. We sat and talked about were we could go. Finally, I mentioned a new Japanese restaurant that opened near work.
"OK, I want to go there!" he says.
"Really?" -me
"Yeah, it sounds good." -him
"Are you sure??" -me
"Yeah, how do we get there from here?" -him
Off we went. He tells me to order something that he can try too. He had teriyaki beef and I ordered a sushi roll dinner. He LOVED his beef. He liked my California roll, not so big on the tuna one, and wouldn't touch the eel one (my FAVORITE!!!!) I ordered some extra eel (YUMMMMM) but he won't touch that. He ordered a white tuna one on his own. He loved it! He also liked the tea.
I think he's going to be OK for food by the time our trip comes along! I hope that he likes sushi enough that we can go with the bride in Sapporo to eat some "circle sushi"! HA HA! ^_^
