It's Monday

I have so much to do today, and yet here I sit blogging before school. Yesterday, my parents came to help me clean up our basement. My dad even painted the floor, which makes it look a thousand times better/brighter! However, it triggered my allergies, and now I feel like crap. I'm allergic to everything it seems some days.
Today it is raining, but the temps are up so that makes it nice. My plan is to actually get some of my To Do list done... yeah, right. I'm so lazy sometimes. I feel lazy today, because I'm not feeling well. Amazing how that always goes hand in hand isn't?
Hope the sun will shine on you today and that you have a great day! ^_^ I hope I feel better!

For Real?

Last night, Hubby and I were laughing over videos on YouTube. That is always a good time, however, when I typed in rabbits, a ad came up for Bunny Slippers.
A whole website just for bunny slippers??? It's so funny and cute! Hubby thinks that this is dumb, but I thought it was so cute! Look at how cute their stuff is:
I totally want their slippers, but I got some news one at Christmas... they are not white rabbits anymore, they are gray now.
Today was a great day of no kids... it was a scoring day for everyone. My group however does not have to score, we have department meetings that are a great time of sharing. Tonight I'm headed out to a party for a friend. Tomorrow, I plan on doing some serious knitting and relaxing!

Trippy Preperations

I know our big trip back to Japan is a few too many months away at this point, but that isn't stopping me from getting us ready! My hubby told me that he wants to start trying Japanese food before we go so he can see what he likes. When I was living in Hokkaido, he came to visit me and he was launched into a new world of food. It was way overwhelming for him and I wasn't a very big help. So, a few weeks ago, we had some sushi to see if he liked it. It was OK he tells me. Great, we are getting somewhere now!
Suddenly, he has started coming home and wanting to drink tea. Hubby has always been a coffee dinner; black coffee dinker. Now, he's trying every kind of tea he can! Lucky thing that I love tea and have a ton of different kinds stashed around the house! He likes Oolong tea and Irish Breakfast teas the best so far.
So, last night we are going to go out for dinner. I really wanted to go out for BBQ, but the place I like is downtown and there was a concert or something so we couldn't even get near the place. We sat and talked about were we could go. Finally, I mentioned a new Japanese restaurant that opened near work.
"OK, I want to go there!" he says.
"Really?" -me
"Yeah, it sounds good." -him
"Are you sure??" -me
"Yeah, how do we get there from here?" -him
Off we went. He tells me to order something that he can try too. He had teriyaki beef and I ordered a sushi roll dinner. He LOVED his beef. He liked my California roll, not so big on the tuna one, and wouldn't touch the eel one (my FAVORITE!!!!) I ordered some extra eel (YUMMMMM) but he won't touch that. He ordered a white tuna one on his own. He loved it! He also liked the tea.
I think he's going to be OK for food by the time our trip comes along! I hope that he likes sushi enough that we can go with the bride in Sapporo to eat some "circle sushi"! HA HA! ^_^

You Sunk My Unoship!

This weekend I went to my hometown to celebrate my mom's birthday. We had a lot of fun. I took her out for lunch and then we headed out to do some shopping. It was a nice day out. When we got home my brother had come over for dinner. It was nice to have all of us together for a little while.
Before dinner, my brother and I decided that we should play a board game. My brother has this crazy thing about Battleship, and he loves to mix all his games together when he talks about them... hence the "you sunk my Unoship!" or sometimes it changes to "you sunk my Scrabbleship!" So, we played a rousing game of Battleship. We each came within one shot of beating the other. It was the closest game of battleship ever! After dinner we talked Mom into playing Clue with us. We don't play normal Clue, we play Simpson's Clue. It's the same thing, but with all the Simpson's characters. It's a good time. Then we finished off with some Uno. Classic night in our house.
Today Hubby and I went to a luncheon that is held by our realtor. We've gone every year since we bought our house. It a nice time, good food, and door prizes. This year, Hubby won us a gift certificate to a restaurant that we keep saying we want to try. Now, we have a reason to try it!

Family Tree Maker

So, when my cousin came to visit last November, we called my great-uncle about our family tree. We are the only ones in our generation that are interested at all in the family history. I told her the little that I know about our family. My uncle was so excited that we are interested, that he order us each our own copy of Family Tree Maker. This program is COOL! My uncle has spent hours putting together our family history and he sent me a copy of what he done with it. I am so amazed by the amount of work that he has put into this. I had to call him tonight since it was the first night that I was able to sit down and play with it. He walked me though a whole bunch of neat things that you can do with this program. He has my grandfather's family down with TONS of details, but not much at all on my grandmother's side. So, her task for the next few days is to put together as much of her family history as she can so I can add it for my tree.
This weekend, I'm going to my parents' house to go out with my mom for her birthday and to see some friends from high school. It should be a good time!

Medusa's Hair

I done for a while wearing my hair up again. I told someone that it was getting a little long and that I don't want to look like Medusa. It blows my mind that people have no idea who Medusa is! I told my husband that if I had a band (my 1st band's name would be Screaming Yellow Neon Kittens) I would name it Medusa's Hair. No one would get it. Oh well.
Tonight for dinner I made an old family favorite; Sloppy Joes. Hubby had never had them, so last night I called my mom to get my great-grandmother's recipe. Since he had never had it, I was nervous that he wouldn't like it. He did! It was nice to be able to make something for him that my family has enjoyed for a long time! Thursday we'll have to try something new! I'm actually starting to enjoy cooking.

Happy Weekend

This weekend has been spend inside relaxing... well, the major snow fall helped the staying inside part. It was nice to just enjoy reading a book, knitting, and making a few pairs of earrings. I ended up making 10 pairs. I made all colors and a few different styles. I plan to take them to school to sell. I had a lot of fun making them, but my hands are a bit sore from using my pliers all weekend! I also worked on my vest. I'm almost done with the back of it. I would like to get the back done this week. Last weekend I finished my one sock. I cast on the second one, but for some reason it looked all wrong, so I pulled it all out. I'm not anxious to start it again, but I NEED to get the second sock started! I don't want to only have one sock done and never get to the second one!
I hope that our snow will melt soon so that spring can come!
