Rascal Flatts

WOW!!!!!! The concert was amazing! We had the best seats ever! The satellite stage was one 7 rows in front of us! It was so wonderful. Fireworks, jokes and great stage presents really made the show. I hope that we could see them again sometime! Here are some of the pictures that I took during the show. The boys opening song "Me and My Gang":Here the boys are on the satellite stage:
A short video that I took:

The last song and a nice group shot of the boys:
They ended with "He's Not The Leaving Kind" and had the Marine core come up on stage with them. Then they did the encore. Here are the Marines:

If you get the chance to see their show DO IT!! It is so worth the tickets! ^_^

COLD SNAP!

It had been so bitter the past few days! Our winter this year has been so odd. In December it was unseasonably warm, and now it's back to freezing! Last night we got some serious snow and blowing winds. I was out late with a teacher meeting, and driving home was a little nerve racking. I made it and was going to sit, but this book was calling my name. It was a great evening to sit inside with a big mug of hot coco and relax by a fire. Hummmm, I didn't have hot coco, and we don't have a fire place, but I could imagine myself sitting by a hot fire.
Today I have nothing after school. It's kind of a nice feeling know that I can come home and get stuff done around here. My co-worker is out sick today, so it's all me for our first group. Yesterday I made them do the "Hokey-Poky" with me. Maybe today we can sing and dance some more!

Long Weekend Filled With Fun!

It has been a great long weekend... I wish it wouldn't end. I like being able to sleep in and de-clutter my house!
Saturday was my guild meeting. It was auction day! I put in $10 ( as my friend said it was a $10 "donation"). I actually WON something... not just one something, but three somethings! I got this great natural brown fiber that has NOT been washed, or carded or anything! Here it is in the HUGE bag that it came in:
I also won some alpaca and Shetland sheep fiber:
I learned how to use hand carders at the meeting, so now I can card that brown fiber I won. I also joined in the fleece study, so I can practice carding that!
I also got the chance to learn how to make the Market Squares enterlac bag. My friend helped me get started and today we had the chance to knit together and I'm cruising along on it. I'm going to need some help on how to change the colors for the next tier, but she said that we can meet and she help me with that step too. Here it is before I started on the first tier:
Yesterday I went to a Silpada party. I had such a great time. It was really fun and I'm thinking about hosting my own. I liked that there was no pressure to buy and if I host one all I would have to do is give the rep a list of guests, and some hors d'oruvres. How easy! I did order a necklace from the catalogue. It was a nice party and it was fun to see some old friends!

Fun and Games

Tonight I am sitting happily knitting and enjoying a glass of wine. I'm having a nice time of watching American Idol and knowing that I would NEVER EVER try out for the following reasons 1.) I can't sing 2.) I couldn't handle Simon telling me that I can't sing. However, I do enjoy watching other fools who don't know yet that they can't sing and think that they will get though to Hollywood! Love it!
Today I had a great day! I showed off the bag that I'm working on to felt up. I was asked if I was interested in making up a few since one mom at school just opened her own shop and my bags might fit her needs. The one who asked me said that she would feel out how this mom feels about adding some hand knit items to her shop. It would be pretty cool to have of my knit stuff in a real shop! If that doesn't work out, one of my other building asked if I had a bunch of these bags made up so I could sell them to the other teachers at school. That would be sweet too!!
I went to the yarn shop tonight to get some yarn for a enterlac bag that I'm going to learn to make this weekend. I am really excited about that bag. I picked out some really bright colors that should look good together.
I hope that tomorrow is as good as today was! ^_^

Yummy Goodess!

I'm actually starting to get into this cooking thing! This weekend we made homemade chicken pot pie, and then I made a savory beef in my slow cooker. It came out really great! Hubby helped me made the pot pie. I ate the leftovers for dinner tonight and it was so good. I'm getting into using my calender to write out the week's menu on it. So far we have only tired new recipes. This week I pulled out some that I haven't made in a very long time! It's kind of fun to try new recipes... we never know if we are going to love it or not! So far, there's only been one that was not so great. All the other recipes that I have made have had "Yum!" written next to them in the book.
This weekend is my guild meeting. I e-mailed my friend asking if she could teach me to make an enterlac felted bag at the meeting. I'm excited to learn how to do this! I have seen some BEAUTIFUL bags made this way and I really want to make one! I need to get the yarn for it by Saturday. I plyed up the rest of the blue faced Lester that I was working with before Christmas. I started to spin some beautiful bright pink that I want to make a sweater out of once it's spun up.

Record Breaking Temps In January!

The past few days have been unseasonably warm!! Not just warm, like the snow is melting, but warm like I could go out with just a sweatshirt on and rake up some leaves because there is NO snow! It's really crazy! I know that the ski resorts must be hurting right now because of the high temps. Hubby and I got out the other day to clean the gutters and rake a few leaves up.
Yesterday, it was still warm out, but it was VERY windy. On my way to school yesterday one of the highways shut down because the wind blew over a tractor trailer as it was DRIVING! I was a little nervous about my drive (I have to drive over a very large and scary bridge everyday!!!), but I made it with no problem.
At school yesterday, I took in my pink shawl to show it off to a few people. I put it in my newly finished felted bag. One of the secretaries LOVED it and asked me if I would sell it to her right there and then. OK, so she took it and now I'm making a new one with different colors. I'm going to set aside any money that I get from selling knitted stuff for our trip to Japan in August.
Hubby and I were looking at plane tickets again and trying to pick which are the best days for him to take vacation for our trip. Hopefully, we can get our tickets soon so that I can tell my friend what days we are going to be there so we can meet up with them! I'm so excited to see my friends again. Hubby is excited to go too. He is looking forward to it too since it means time off work for him! When we come home from Japan, he will still have one week of vacation so we can spend some time together here at home too! ^_^

Finished Bag

I finished knitting the bag last night. Today, I felted it:We tried a new recipe tonight called Cheesy Rice Bake. It came out so yummy and we will make it again! I also made a sweet potato pie with it. I think we need less nutmeg next time. It was a great dinner! ^_^

Peaceful Saturday

Today is a peaceful day. Thursday was our first day back to school and it was a little hectic. It was nice to only have two days back and slowly ease back into the routine of working. I've spent my morning running around doing things that I haven't had the chance to do (banking, going to the post office; that kind of thing).

Now that the new year is here, I'm trying to make some changes in our life here. I joined the gym last year in March and I've gone, but wasn't serious about it. Now that I have a special wedding to go to in August, I'm taking serious (well, it also motivated me last time I was there and they said that I lost 4 lbs!!). I'm also trying to cook more. Since Hubby and I don't have a lot of time together, we usually go out to dinner. This is not the healthiest thing, nor is it the most cost effective thing for us. Last week I started to look at cook books again and find easy things that I can make. I'm not a very good cook (I LOVE to bake sweets, but cooking dinners is not so exciting for me). This past week I was able to make something different each night (for me that is HUGE!). I've picked out a menu for tonight and tomorrow night. I have to pick out what I want to make for the rest of the week. One of the meals that I made was a potato and spinach soup in the slow cooker. I liked it, Hubby didn't really. So, I wrote a note next to the recipe that says "OK but not great". My mom taught me to write in the books so that way you know what recipes you like and what ones you don't. I'm really trying this year!

I love being on Ravelry. As I put up unfinished projects, it's keeping me motivated to work on them, and to make sure that they are going to my completed project list. It's making me more accountable for my knitting! I like it! Here's my bag to be felted as my new Totoro looks on:

Welcome 2008!

I got up today and the first day of 2008 was beautiful! It was snowing with the big fluffy flakes, so it looked like a scene from a movie.
It has stopped snowing, but it is still so pretty out. It's very quite this morning. I think most people are sleeping off their parting from last night. Husband and I didn't really party. We spent a quite night at home watching CSI and a great zombie movie called "Dawn of the Dead". I thought it was great! It was pretty funny because it was so ridiculous! I love zombie movies!!! They are so fun.
I already started dinner even though it's only 10:30 a.m. I found a great slow cooker soup that I wanted to try, so it's cooking already. This way I am now done with my evening work, so I can sit and knit longer! Today is the first day that I can cast on for the Victorian Lace Today KAL! I have to wind my yarn into a ball yet and then I can start. I'm ready to try it and it might be a bit more challenging then I think, but I'll try!
Once Husband gets up for the day I think we will enjoy a rare day off together!
