Rainy Day Blues

Yesterday I subbed in a great building. It was nice to be teacher again even if only for a day! I did find some work as a tutor, but it's only a few days a week so I can still sub. I had a lot of fun yesterday!
Today it is raining. It's so gloomy out and yucky. I was working on my holy shawl, but I dropped my knitting needles when the phone scared me this morning. I've knit a few rows after that, but when I dropped it I lost a few of the stitches and I can't get the pattern to work anymore. Looks like I have to rip it out and start again!!! Oh man, I don't want to rip it out, but if I try to fix it it seems to be worse! Oh well... I'm just going to relax and start ripping out my shawl.

Angry Rabbits!

The past few days we have been working on building a new cage for Tira and Nesquick. Their cage is out of control big and they can't seem to use their litter boxes anymore! It's a big fat mess! So, hubby has been working on designing a new cage for them that is not so huge! Chanel and Versace will get the same style cage in a few weeks. They will be mirror images and they will all live upstairs together. No more bunnies living in my living room! The maybe I can move our 2nd couch up there so I can sit and knit with them. That's the goal anyway.
Today, I needed to put Tira and Nesquick in one part of their cage so I could start to take down the other parts. Here's the cage when I started. Can you see why I want to brake it down?

This cage has been taking over my upstairs for a year. Until now I was really happy with it. I loved that they had so much room to run and that we could give them all that space. Suddenly the loss of litter box use makes this huge cage a beast to clean! So, they are now living in a very small part of this cage. Here is Nesquick's angry face at me.

Tira was not as cute with her angry face. She is ANGRY! She is trying to eat her way out and keeps thumping her back foot at me. She is 3 lbs. of spit and fire! Tira is MAD at me!

Poor Nesquick, he is trying to make the best of it. He is such a gentile rabbit with a sad background. The shelter that we got him from told us he had been there 2 times and that we would be his 4th home. The last owner who had him abused him. How could you abuse such a sweet little face! I feel bad that he has to put up with Tira's furry, but she'll calm down eventually (I hope!). So, until Tira's tirade comes to an end I have to listen to her scurry around and chew the cage apart while Nesquick is trying to sleep. I knew that they would be mad, but I had no idea that they would get this upset! I hope they love the new cage when they move into it!

Holy Shawl!

Here is it is! I was on row 9 yesterday when I posted... knit 10 after that posting and it was a royal mess! I took it all out and started over. Now, I'm into the pattern but I'm still not sure if it's right. I have to wait and see after a few more rows. I've pulled it out 3 times already, I don't want to do it again!

Friday Fun

Today I went back to the school I interviewed at to see the kids in action. It was really fun and it was good to be in a school for part of the day again.
I finished half of the black and white poncho that I started. It looks good, but I started a new project! I started a new shawl that is a little hard than some of the other projects that I've done. I like the challenge of it. It's been fun so far, but I've only done 9 rows!
Tonight I had belly dance class. I was really excited to see one of the girls who was in my beginner class with me! I haven't seen her in months, so it was a nice surprise to have her in class! We have been working on a little bit of tribal style. Normally we learn cabaret style. It's been really fun, but when I have lead a small group it's not so good. I'm not good a leading the group, but we have a good time anyway! ^_^

New Knitting

Yesterday I started another poncho. After going to the fiber fest I've been feeling that I want to start a new project, but I have the yarn for another poncho. After the poncho, I'll see about starting a new and different project! ^_^

Apple Crisp and Interviewing

On our vacation my hubby and I stopped at the Lodge outlet store in the Smoky Mountains. We bought an apple peeler and corer. I set it up on my counter the other day, but I didn't try it out. Today I tried it. I had a few apples so I just thought I'd test it out... five apples later I mixed up the topping that goes on it and we had apple crisp in the oven. It didn't last very long. Hubby and I both LOVE apple crisp!!! Last time I made it was 2 years ago. I swore that I wouldn't make it again because I hate peeling apples! This new peeler is SO amazing! I peeled 5 apples in like 2 minutes! It was fabulous! The apple crisp was so yummy!!!! Hubby and I devoured it! Oh well... my tummy is happy and full!
Today before I made apple crisp I had another interview. This one felt really good. It would be for only part of the day, but it was really great. I was walked around the building and introduced to everyone we saw. It was a much better feeling than the other day. Hopefully it will work out for me! ^_^

Disappointment

Last year I was a long term sub. I had the best time and I got really attached to the other teachers and the kids! I loved the kids! I would have done anything for them. At the end of the year, my subbing job ended. I've been looking all summer, but none of my interviews have lead to a permanent job yet.
Last night the teacher I subbed for all year called me to see if I could do one more day for her. She was pretty sick with a cold and felt it would be better to stay home than getting all the kids sick. She walked me though her day and e-mailed me the plans. I was so excited about seeing the kids.
The automatic phone system however never called me. It called another person. I went in and when they told me, I had to give that person the plans. It was like taking away a child's favorite toy. I was crushed and so were the kids. Oh well.... something permanent is out there for me. T_T

In-laws visit today!

Today my hubby's parents are coming up to visit with us! I called them last night to let them know that they needed to bring working clothes as well as nice clothes for dinner. They knew we were going out to dinner, but what on Earth do they need to bring work clothes for? Last time we were in our hometown and at their house we talked about them coming sometime to help us with our bathroom project! My mother-in-law was really shocked about this news. She said that we had only been talking about it. Yeah, I know, but my hubby got it in his head that they were then coming to help. My mother-in-law and I are probably going to sit and chat while the boys work. We are good helpers like that! HA HA! I love talking with my mother-in-law, we get along so great! I'm really lucky to have great in-laws! Last year for Christmas my father-in-law knew that I wanted an ipod, so he got one for me. I was so surprised about that! His comment was that he knew I wanted it so I needed it. I asked if I told him I want a pony this year will I get it? He won't answer me on that so I'm thinking it's a no. HA HA! ^_^
Tomorrow my mom is coming to visit me. She knows that I had a tough week, so we are going to get together so we can relax together. I'm also looking forward to that. It will be a busy weekend for me! ^_^

Bad Day

My day has not started off so well. I had an interview that just went terrible. I was interviewing for a position and I had interviewed with them once before and I had a great time. Today the vibe was all wrong. I don't know what happened, but something good will come yet. I did have a happy thing happen when I got home though. One of my close friends from Japan was on-line this morning so I got to talk to her. She always makes me feel better just getting an e-mail or note from her. I felt a lot better after talking to her.
Chanel and Versace about to have a bad day too. They however, do not know that yet. They have to go to the vet for their yearly check up. Chanel HATES the car. She can not think of a worse punishment that having to ride in the car. I will have to vacuum up all the poops from her flinging them out of her carrier. Versace doesn't care one way or the other. He just hates the vet poking him in the belly. Other than that, he's ok with it. So, their day is about to become a bad day too. Here are Chanel and Versace before their date with the vet. See how happy they are??

Record Bowls

Here they are, my record bowls! This project was a success! ^_^

New Project

A few years ago my friend made these cool bowls out of old vinyl records. So, after searching on-line yesterday I found how to make them. This morning I met my hubby at a restaurant for breakfast. He was just getting home from work, so he called to see if I would meet him. It was great and afterwards I stopped at a thrift store so that I could get some old vinyl records to make bowls out of. I found some Frank Sinatra (I LOVE Frank songs!) and a old King and I sound track! Now, I just have to make them! That should be fun! I will do it later today after I clean up a bit!

Rabbit Lovers and Yarn

The fiber festival today was great! We saw sheep dogs herding sheep, spinners spinning and people knitting. I love fiber festivals because everyone is so friendly. My college friend had never been before. She was so excited to find un-dyed wool that she could make into wigs for the dolls she makes. She bought a ton of wool. In a craft store she would have paid big bucks for all that she got. At the festival, $5 was she paid for a ton of raw wool. She was super excited about it!
There were a ton of people who had angora rabbits there. Last year when I went to one festival I saw this women demonstrate how to pull wool and shear an angora. This women was down right cruel to her rabbits. She said that if the rabbit was not good, get rid of it for a nice one. All of my rabbits are rescue bunnies, and let me tell you they are not always so nice. I have been scratched and bitten many times. It's not that they are bad, it's that they are scared! Rabbits HATE to be picked up, and this women was picking them up by their scruf and holding them with their ears! How would like to be picked up by your ears?? I'd bit, kick and scratch too! So, needless to say I was a little leery of the "rabbit people" today. I got to talking with this one women, while my friend was getting raw wool. She had 5 bucks (males) and they were for sale. This women was the nicest person. She and I talked about rabbits for maybe 30 minutes. When my friend joined in we all sat chatting for a good long while. She let me hold the one buck and let him run around on the ground for a little. She said that if she felt they were not going to a good home that she wouldn't sell them. I was so happy. She said that she had always wanted a rex. She would love a rex to breed with one of her angoras. It would be a interesting cross. I told her that rexs are very high strung. Angoras seem to have a more relaxed personality. It might be a good mix. My Chanel however, is too hyper and she's fixed. No surprise baby bunnies for us. This women also gave us the names of a few other fiber festivals to check out. I think my friend is hooked!
One thing that I'm starting to become interested in is spinning wheels. I asked a few people about them today and they were ready to answer any of my crazy questions. I think it would be a cool skill to know and the satisfaction that comes with making your yarn to knit is really awesome in my mind. I think it would be something I could get into once I have a job. ^_^

Fiber Festival

Well, I finished knitting my felted bag, now I'm working on sewing it together. Today however, I am visiting my college friend. We are going to a fiber festival today. I'm pretty excited because my friend also loves yarn, wool and other fibers for knitting and making stuff. My friend is an amazing doll maker, so we decided that we should go to this together. I drove down to her house last night after belly dance class.
Last night started a new 8 weeks of belly dance. This time we are learning some tribal style. I'm pretty excited about that. Normally we learn more of the cabaret style. It's always nice to learn new things. The dance that we are learning this go around is pretty cool so far. We were told to wear full skirts because our dance use them. I do not have a full skirt, so last night I had to just pretend that I was wearing one.
Well, we are off to the fiber festival in a few minutes so I'll let you know how it was later! ^_^

First Felting Project

Last night I finished a project that I had started a long time ago! This summer my Nana worked on it to help me finished it up. I finally finished last night! It is a scarf for my Mom. She wanted it in this bright raspberry color. Here it is!

I promised myself that I would not start my new project until I finished at least one project that I had put on hold. I finished 2! One was my Mom's scarf and the other was a hat that I wanted to make. Well, the hat was made out of left over yarn, so I finished it this morning, but I don't have any of that color yarn left to sew it together. I'll get a pict of it after it's sewed up! My new project is this felted handbag. I love handbags... my husband is sick of my handbag problem. I have too many!! However, this one is the first time I've felted, so I'm pretty excited about it. I found this great variegated yarn that I think will look stunning when I finish it! The knitting part is easy, it's the act of felting that I'm still trying to understand. I think I'll worry about that when I get it to. Here's part of that bag so far:

Today two of our bunnies where supposed to go to the vet for the yearly check up, however, they called saying we have to reschedule. Can you see the disappointment on Tira's face?

Lazy Sunday

Today has been a lazy day. I got up to go to church this morning. I haven't been to church here since hubby and I got married 3 years ago. I've been feeling low spirituality, so I thought I'd go. This church that I went to was ok, but it didn't fill me the way I was hoping it would. So, I guess next week I'll try another church.
Other than that, I've been curled up on the couch reading the sixth Harry Potter book. It's been raining all weekend due to the Hurricane that went up the East coast. Oh well, I've enjoyed just reading my book and listening to music.
I've managed to fringe most of the poncho. I still have a small bit left to do, but I needed a break from it! I can only fringe so much before I want to throw it out the window. Maybe I'll work on it tonight after I finish my book. ^_^

Cleaning and Knitting

Yesterday I went on a cleaning spree! I decided to wash my dining room floor, dust, vacuum and just make my dining room sparkle. I was supposed to meet my belly dance friend, but she called me last minute to say she was pretty sick. So, I cleaned my house instead. Here's my cleaned dining room! Yes, it really is orange! Every room in my house is a different color! Hubby and I HATE white walls... too boring! ^_^

I also finished the poncho!!! I was pretty excited about that. I managed to cut all the fringe for it last night, but I didn't get to that point. I'm going to fringe it today. Here is it before the fringe. Looks pretty good to me!
