Interview Day

I had my interviews today, and it seemed to go well. I guess I'll know soon how well I did. I felt that I had good energy and I was positive. Now, I just have to continue my cleaning so my grandmother actually has a place to stay. My friend in Tokyo e-mailed today saying that my domestic flight tickets had arrived at her apartment. I was thrilled with that news. I hope that I have more good news soon! ^_^

Knitting The Poncho

Well, I'm still stuck on the poncho. I need to just get going on it, but I haven't had any motivation. Tomorrow is the last day of the conference that I'm attending. Once that's done, I can really focus on my knitting again (well, I do have the interview Wednesday to focus on first). I did get a few rows done today, but nothing that's really noticeable.

House work

Didn't knit today only so that I could clean up my house. I really hate cleaning, but it must be done. I vacuumed up all the sawdust in the bathroom project and I even put down the pad for the carpet up there. It was a big deal. The sub floor was put down last night, so visible progress can be seen! Then I cleaned the rabbits' cages. They were very happy about that. After that I planted the Gerber daisy that my co-workers gave me as good bye gifts. It was really sweet of them. However, I am not good at gardening. I did manage to get them planted and watered today. That's progress for me! ^_^

Moving Violation

Yesterday I did get to try out my Heelys! My hubby and I needed to get more rabbit food and insulation for the bathroom project. He wanted to stop at Wendy's for a quick snack before we did our running around. In the car I figured out how to put the wheels in my shoes. This probably was not the brightest move. I was so excited to try out my untapped heely skills. We got out of the car and then I just out broke my neck! Grabbing on to my hubby for dear life as he's screaming at me to let go and not drag him down with me! An older couple was exiting their car at the same time and watched this whole thing unfold. The wife shot me a look that said "stupid young punk" and the hubby just laughed and laughed. My hubby by this time has shaken me free and I'm trying to walk/roll around to the entrance of Wendy's. After safely making it inside, I decided that I would not make a bigger fool of myself and took the wheels out while we were in line. Got my French fires and nursed my bruised ego back to full health in the car. My hubby was still telling me I was nuts, but he knows I'm not going to give up yet! Off we went to get the rabbit food, but I opted not to out my wheels in in the pet shop. Hurting myself is one thing, crashing into a unsuspecting animal in a cage is another. I reused to even entertain the idea of skating around there. Next we head over to the hardware store to get our insulation. While hubby was calculating how much, which length, and other important things, I put my wheels back in. HA HA! Success is not killing your self while wheeling around. I did manage to get the hang of it, but I'm still not great. That was after only 20 minutes. I bet if I try again today in a non public area I could get it. However, I must clean my house. It looks like a small nuclear device went off in here! My grandmother cannot see how truly messy I let my house get. I'm not very good at domestic stuff. Maybe if I put my energy into cleaning instead of knitting, or learning to skate on my shoes, I'd be Martha Stewart. HA HA! Not gonna happen, EVER.

Biggest 5 Year Old Ever

Well, I did find some shoes that I have seen the kids at school wearing. They look so cool! I finally asked one of the kids what kind of shoes they were wearing. I had never heard of this brand, but I was told they were the best. The kids told me they wear Heelys. So cool! The shoes with the wheels in the heels! HA HA! I had to have them, but I couldn't get them while the kids were still in school. I would just embarrass myself if I came to school and I couldn't skate on them. So being that school let out yesterday, I was on a mission to find them once I stopped window shopping... Only one store at our mall had them. The girl there tried to get me to buy the white ones with pink. I'm not a pink kind of girl. I picked up these great black and white ones. The reminded me of saddle shoes which I also love! I can't wait to try them out!!!! I'll be the oldest kid wearing them! Hopefully I can get the hang of skating on them easily!

Window Shopping

This morning after taking my last check to the bank I went to the mall. I don't know what I was thinking but I wanted to just window shop. HA! That didn't happen. I found this great belt buckle. So I go it. I've been looking for a belt buckle for a while and just hadn't found one that seemed like it would fit me. I loved this one and it seemed like it was just meant for me. Then I was off to look at shoes...

New Hip Scarf

Today was the last day of school and the last day of my dance class for this choreography. It was great and at the end of class I found another hip scarf that I just had to have. It's black with gold coins and Egyptian symbols on it. I love it!

Interviews

Only one more day of school. I've been a little stressed out about it as I have no job for next year. I had a party with my kiddos today. It was really fun. We played games and ate cupcakes. I was called by my supervisor today saying that I will have an interview next week! I am SO excited about that! It was a great day!

Count Down

Only 3 days of school left!! Which also means, only a week more until my grandmother comes. I am very excited about that! It also means that our bathroom project should be drawing to a close. That is the best news I can think of. After that, the count down is set for me to go back to Japan. I have my flights, train tickets, places to stay, yarn and knitting needles! I think I'm all set to go.

Heat Wave

Today is soooooooooo hot!!! Yesterday I helped my hubby with the bathroom project and washed half the windows in the house so we could open them. In the bathroom project we are getting close to putting in the floor. YEAH!!!!! He sweat all the pipes that are in the floorboards yesterday so I think that means we can put the sub-floor in!! Woo-hooo!!! Today I was working on washing the other half of my windows so I can open up the whole house. Some of them had caulk on them, so I had to pry that off first. It was so hot out there that I took a break to wash my car! HA HA! I just wanted to use the hose because the water was cold. I did wash my car. Here's a pict of my crappy wash job. Oh well, at least all the bird poo is gone for now! My car is a bird poo magnet. I also finished the first have of the poncho last night. I started the second part a few hours ago.... however I only did 4 rows. I'll get there! It has to be done by next Friday night. I have 5 days yet. I can do it... maybe.

Addicted

A few months ago my Nana asked me if I was into sudoku puzzles. I told her no, because it looked like math to me. I HATE math! I had to close a checking account because I couldn't figure out how to balance it! Math and I do not play well together. Math makes me cry and then I cuss and scream about how much I hate it. Well, my Nana told me that these puzzles are NOT math and I should try them. So, I did. I found an internet guide on how to play them and now I CAN'T STOP!!!! Today I printed off some "hard" leveled ones. I've been playing them at lunch everyday and at home. I was knitting my poncho but I'm on a sudoku break! They are my mental crack! HA HA!!! I need to play more!!!!! @_@

Dance Dance Revolution

Last night I had my belly dance class. I love it so much, but the moves that we are learning right now are very advanced! I'm struggling to keep up with our choreography, but I'll keep practicing. Our teacher is a professional and recently has had to leave right after class to dance at weddings and different events, which leaves us no time for questions or a break down of moves. Oh well, my good friend and I have discovered that if we get together right after and work on it for another hour or two we can get it together for the next class. We are the lowest skilled in the group, so we have to work the hardest to keep up. However, she is trained in ballet forever!!! So, I need all the help I can get, but yesterday I was told I had the best shoulder shimmies of the class!! YEAH ME!!!! I love it and it's great for me. Last night we worked on our traveling omis and our Turkish backbends. I'm hurting today, but eventually I'll get it!

Unprofessional!

What a day I had... I found out that the vice-principal of the school has been promoted to principal of the school for next year! YEAH! However, being that I'm still going to be unemployed for next year I was a bit unprofessional and wallowed all day in my own self-pity. Then when she saw me later she asked if I was ok. I lost it, I cried and said that I was being selfish and I am happy for her but I'm worried about my future. I'm suppose to have my end of the year review today. It seems every time I'm in her office I cry! Not because I'm sad, but because I'm happy or something has overcoming me again. So, to make up for my childish behavior yesterday, I spent the rest of my evening knitting and relaxing with a friend. I knit another furry shawl for the v.p. as to say "Congratulations!" And, to make up for my tantrum.... I really am 5 some days.

New Computer!

Yesterday a new computer arrived at our house. I had no idea why it would come as my husband didn't tell me that we bought a new one. I just looked at the box in surprise and low and behold he had his name on it. Luckily he told me before I went postal about him buying it without me knowing that if he put in part of his paycheck to a charity that he was entered in a drawing. He actually won the drawing.... you guessed it, the grand prize was a new computer! Too funny! So, he's been like a kid in a candy store with his new laptop. I'm still blown away that he won the drawing! We never win anything so this was pretty cool!

Silly Rabbits

I just had to post this pict! Chanel and Versace were just so cute. Versace has this weird thing about he loves to groom Chanel's eye. He's kind of silly like that!

New Shawl

I put aside the poncho project one more time to whip up this really cute shawl. It was made with size 50 needles. I love projects that only take a few hours! It would have taken me less time but the base yarn was all knotted inside the skein. I had to rewind the whole skein before I could start. Also, I've realized that wearing new knitted projects to school is the best feedback I could get. Kids are so honest! I love hearing what they think about my projects. They all liked today's shawl. If the kids like it then I see what my adult co-workers think. If they like it then I can make more as gifts for people. If they hate it but the kids like it then 50/50 shot that I'll make it again. If kids hate it but adults love it.... well that hasn't happened yet so I can say anything about that.

Helping Out

I swore when my husband and I got married that there were jobs around the house that he would have to do. I would wash dishes, do laundry, clean the rabbit boxes, wash windows and so on. However, I would NOT mow the grass or learn to use the snow blower. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I would do all other house work. Well, today I learned to mow. My husband is trying to redo our upstairs bathroom. He works crazy hours so I thought I'd help him out today by mowing the grass. The past few months he's only mowed the front yard so it looks nice from the street. I managed to get that done without too much trouble. I did have to call my dad to tell me how to start the mower... yeah, well, I sucked up my pride and got it done. I thought I'd be sweet and tackle the backyard. HA HA HA!!! This pict shows how high the grass was and how far I got before I ran out of gas. We do have a gas can with gas in it, but I couldn't get it open for the life of me! I'll finish the job when my hubby gets home and opens the can for me! HA HA! I must say my husband is so sweet because last week when I was having a rough time at school he surprised me with flowers. So, I hope he likes his surprise! ^_^

Greasy Goodness

Around here a "garbage plate" is food that everyone loves to eat. The bottom layer can be a combination of two sides; macaroni salad, baked beans, French fries or home fries. The next layer is hamburger, hotdogs, chicken fingers, or some meat of some sort. The it's all topped off with meaty hot sauce. I had NEVER even heard of this craziness until we moved here. My husband gets them all the time at work. I had my first one a few months ago... today we had them again for dinner. We got ours from this little dive burger joint that is close to his job. I had a cheese burger with fries and macaroni salad. It was pretty good.

Other knitting

So today I stopped working on the poncho for a little bit and tried to add a few rows to the sock I've been working on. I did finish the one sock, but the second one is coming along very slowly! I'm using size 11 double pointed needles, so it should go fast. However, I have too many other projects started, so it got put on the back burner for a while. Anyway, I picked it up again today. This is how far I have gotten on it! Maybe if I just worked only on this I could finish, but I love to jump between projects. I think I have 3 or 4 stared right now....

Hungry Rabbit

I usually feed all the rabbits in the morning before I go to school and on Friday's before I go dance class. Today I went to feed Tira and Nesquick and they still had a bowl full of food. Tira was still expecting I feed her more! Oh well... they can have their veggies when I get home from dance tonight! Rabbits are ALWAYS hungry!!!!

Random Thoughts

Today we had a fire drill with the kids at school. It struck me as we were all marching out in single file lines that the only time we practice this skill is when we are in school. I have never hear of a business that made emplyoees practice a fire drill. I guess that when we become adults that we are just expected to know what to do. How funny, the kids can march along quite as can be, but if adults had to pracitce I think we'd all run and scream. Maybe children are more disciplined than adults. Hummm....

Poncho Project

Here's the poncho that I started the other day. The orange one is the first one that I had made. I put it in the picture to show how big the black one will be when I finish it. That's only the first side that I started... I still have another side to make.

(KIP)-Knitting In Public

Recently, I've taken to knitting at my lunch hour. I don't usually bring my knitting to school, but I'm trying to finish a project for my dance teacher. So, I was sitting peacefully knitting in my room away from anyone, when the T.A.'s came in to eat lunch as well. I usually keep to myself at lunch as it's the only time I have to relax during the day. The TA's share my room with me. I'm the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher, so I don't have a normal class. I push into other classes all day long. I love what I do, but lunch is my only me time. Well, the TA's were asking me about my knitting. So, now it seems I might be knitting some stuff for them for their kids Christmas presents. Oh man, I don't want to think about snow right now.... we just got into our only sunny time, the rest of the time we are under snow! Here's a picture of the bags that they want me to make for them. Hope you like them! I get funny looks every time I use this bag, but it's a great bag anyway!

Strange Happenings

On a daily basis I meet the most unusual people. My husband teases me about finding the oddest people out there to talk with. I don't do this on purpose, they just talk to me. Today I left school to get some lunch at a sandwich shop. Today it was really busy and many people were in line. Suddenly the man ahead of me turned around and asked me if I wanted a doughnut or a muffin. What??? Then he looks at me and said "Oh, your not my wife!" Hummm... then he processes to tell me about how his wife has the same hair style as me. Well, I wouldn't think this was a big deal except that I have very short and spiky hair. I haven't seen other women wearing this style so much. Then his wife came out of the ladies' room and announces to the whole shop that we have the same hair! Then it got really weird, they tell me while we are waiting to order that they are professional clowns! He shows me this picture of them in their clown outfits. They continued to tell me about their lives as clowns. I've never met a clown out of costume before. It was really odd. I meet some strange people in my daily life.

First Post

Hi. I'm new to this blogging thing and I thought I'd try it out. My main interests are rabbits and knitting. My husband and I have four crazy rabbits (I'd dead allergic to all other pets). Tiramisu was our first rabbit, and then we got Nesquick. Both of them came from the animal shelter. Chanel was number three... given to us by a teacher at the school I was working at. This is a picture of Chanel. Lastly we adopted Versace from the animal shelter last summer. I started knitting about a year ago and I just can't seem to stop. My grandmother taught me when I went to visit her. I really wanted to learn so I could make an argyle sweater, but I still haven't made a sweater or anything argyle yet. I love to make really funky knitted stuff.
