21st Birthday Party

Today is my very good friend's 21st birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Here's how the evening is going to unfold (well, as far I know at this point). She is having a bunch of friends over for a catered dinner from a WONDERFUL restaurant around here. YUMMY!!!!! Then folks who are not 21 years of age are heading home while a caravan of us who are older than 21 are headed out to the bars. I know we are going out to ride a mechanical bull. She is so excited about that part of the night. I told her I would do it, but public humiliation is not something that I get too excited about. Here's what one looks like:

I don't know about that part of the night! I was going to wear a skirt out, but if I'm going on that, hummm... not a good idea. I do know that after that we are going DANCING!!!! My favorite part! I LOVE dancing but I'm not a good dancer, but I don't care! I know that we are going out most of the night and I plan on dancing for most of it. I know she wants to drink because it's her 21st, but I'll only have 1 or 2 and I'm done. It should be a good time. I plan to take my camera so if I do ride the bull we can capture that Kodak moment forever. Awwwwwwwwww...

Good Book

Well I got distracted by a great book today instead of knitting all day. I got this book at the outlet mall and I loved it! I read the first two chapters last night and then I read the rest of it today. It's a great love story about a high school girl who falls in love with a vampire. It was great! I also sat around in read in my new bunny slippers that I got at the oulet too! Aren't they cute??

Catching Up!

I know that I have about 5 knitting projects going right now. I am trying today to work on one that I had started in October but put aside for Christmas knitting. Now that Christmas is over, I can get back to some of the things I had started. Today I picked up my poncho that I have one half done. I had started the other half, but never quite made all of it. There was a major mistake in it, so the half I had started had to come out. Oh well, I am already back to where I was on it, so maybe I can get it done before my vacation is over. I also have a sock to finish, a scarf that is almost done, a shawl, and a hat to do before I can say I am all caught up! Here is the poncho that I'm working on today!

Amazing Christmas

My hubby and I drove home to our hometown on Christmas Eve (in the daytime). There was no snow and it was kind of warm for this time of year. We packed up all the gifts for our families and headed to my parents' home. My brother was there too. It was really nice to have a quiet dinner together. My mom made ham and sweet potatoes. Everything was so good. After dinner my mom, my brother and me went off to church for Christmas service. We use to all sing "Joy to the World" as the last song of service with lit candles. Not anymore... the new sanctuary has some high tech fire alarm system and just blowing out a match will set it off (they found that out the first week the new part was open!). Imagine 500 people blowing out candles at the same time! My hubby went to visit his parents while we were at church. After we came home my brother went out to a party and mom, hubby and I sat playing UNO until about 11 pm. The next morning we all got up and opened gifts. Here is my parents Christmas tree before we opened all the gifts. On Christmas day after we opened gifts at my 'rents house we drove across town to open gifts at Hubby's 'rents house. I was shocked to see that they got my the vaccum I had mentioned over the summer that "someday" I would like it. I got it for Christmas from my wonderful in-laws.
It was great to share Christmas day with both families and then after our second gift giving time, both families came together for Christmas dinner at his parents house. It was a nice time to get together with family. Lots of EATING and DRINKING was had by all!
The next day, mom and I went shopping! I found some great deals on perfumes and lotions. Mom got some too. After shopping, Hubby and I went out to lunch with his dad and then drove home. He had to work.
Yesterday, I went shopping again with my friend and her sister at an outlet mall. I think my hubby has cut me off from shopping for a while. All the Christmas stuff was on sale up to 75% off!!! How could I resist??? Oh well, it was a great holiday! ^_^

VACATION!

Done with school! Done with school! Done with school! See, teachers love vacation just as much as the students, maybe more! In class yesterday, we just had fun! All the other teachers in the building were showing movies, but since I'm there in the afternoons all the VCRs and TVs were signed out! I had them play M.A.S.H. My kiddos really love fortune telling so they loved this game. The class time surprisingly went really fast!
Last night was our last dance class of the year! It was really fun and fast moving. We were bouncing around with our zills and trying to move and zill is harder than it looks!!! I have a hard time with it, but it was fun anyway! After class my friend and I were going to hang out. I had told her a while ago that I wanted to get my left ear pierced again. She had e-mailed me on Wednesday asking if we were going to go after class. I was going to wuss out last night but then she surprised me by telling me that if I was on the fence that she was thinking of getting pierced too. She said that she wanted to get pierced since July, but she hadn't said anything about it to me. I was trying to guess what she wanted done, but she wouldn't tell me at first.
Well, after class off we went to check out the place that her friend had recommended for piercings. It was a cool shop and there were pictures of all kinds of people who got all kinds of piercings. So, the guy asked what we wanted and she told him she wanted her...... nipple done. OUCH! She has been researching it since July and she knew what she wanted. This was the first time I knew about it and so she picked out her ring and I held her hand. She is so happy about it and I admit it looks really cool. I, however, will not be getting that done. I got my left tragus pierced. I had the right one done about a year ago, so it was time to get the left done. I'm very happy with it and this guy is amazing! Much, much, much better than the place we went last year!
After our self inflicted flesh wounds, we went out for food at our favorite dinner. Yummy! Then we headed over to her house to exchange Christmas gifts. I gave her lotions (yeah for Victoria's Secret) and she gave me a knifty knitter. It's so sweet and I can't wait to try it out!
Yeah for VACATION!!!!!!!

Knitting Masters

I taught my students to knit and it was successful! They are learning to knit a hat. One of them had knit before, so that was very helpful. One of them was slow to get it the hang of holding the needles, but once she got it she took off! It was very fun and it was a great language activity. They definitely had lots of chances to use natural language today! All in all, I would teach my class to knit again!

Must Have Lost My Mind

Two teaching days left before Christmas and I think I have lost my mind! I have been working on a restaurant unit with my students and tomorrow I was going to have them make an appetizer in class. However, my co-worker and my students have been begging me to teach them to knit. I swore I wouldn't give in.... I did. Tomorrow we are scrapping my restaurant unit for knitting time. It is something that they can use and it is a whole language rich activity. I do see a lot of value in teaching them this. I hope that they love it as much as I do. I think it could also help them make friends with the after-school student knitting club. I am trying to get them involved in a whole slew of activities so that they have lots of chances to use their English skills.
Then as I was driving home I hear Christmas music that had an accordion in it. I thought to my self "wow, it would be cool to learn to play the squeeze box." My grandfather did. Then I thought "I already have too many projects to do, so I can't take on another new hobby now." I guess it's part of my nature as I am a Sagittarius.

The Amazing Spinning Guild Meetings

Yesterday was my second guild meeting. I cannot say enough nice things about the members!! I took my drop spindle with me to show off my very small progress. My friend that I learned wheel with brought two wheels with her so I could spin on one yesterday. Then, the woman who taught me drop spindle brought me one of her personal spindles to borrow and try out for the next month!!! As if that wasn't exciting enough for me, my spinning wheel friend invited me over to her home after the meeting to borrow her small wheel. I love how friendly this group is. It's nice to go and know that everyone there is so helpful and nice. It's very exciting for me to learn a craft that is thousands of years old and have the kind of support that these guild meetings provide!
Yesterday they did their Christmas fiber exchange. I don't have any fibers to exchange, so I just watched. Maybe next year I can get in on that. However, people gave me fibers to try on my borrowed wheel! I also had to buy a pair of fingerless gloves that are half angora (bunny fur!) and half alpaca. They are sooooo nice and warm! Being that they are fingerless I can wear them and still knit with them on! Here's a photo of the gloves:

Here is the small wheel that I have on loan from my friend:

Finally, here are the fibers that were given to me to try:

Finished Felt Bag!

I did it! I made my first felted project! I'm pretty proud of how it came out. Here's how it looked when I started knitting it:

Here's how it looked after I sewed it all together:

And finally, here's how it looks now that it's been felted and the handles have been sewed on!

Bad Day

I feel really crappy today. I'm not going to belly dance tonight, I'm just going to chill at home. I couldn't sleep last night, so I think that has a lot to do with my mood today. At knitting club last night they found out that I have put in my 30 days to work. I found a new job and I am very very excited about it! I can't wait to start but my boss now is going to hold me to the 30 days. Oh well. I happy that it's Friday. I almost never order out for dinner but due to my mood today, I did. Yummy chicken wings for me! After I eat, I think I'll play some Final Fantasy and then some Dance Dance Revolution. My hubby got me DDR Supernova for my birthday last week. I've only played it once, so skipping class tonight and do DDR I think will still count as a work out. Besides, dance class is only 1 hour, I can play DDR for several hours! I already feel better thinking about DDR! ^_^

My Felting Mess

So after ripping all the stitches out of the bag I was making I noticed that in my zeal to rip out I accidentally cut some of the knitting too! SHOOT! Now as I sew it back together I have to make sure that I sew the cut stitches or the whole thing is going to come undone! I don't know if I would make this bag again, it will all depend on the finished product! Here's how it looks right now. The sides are stitched back on to the bottom and I was going to sew the back onto the bottom when I took the pict. It looks like some kind of monster right now!
Of course this is the last thing in the world that I should be working on right now. I have to wrap my Christmas gifts, send gifts to my friends in Japan, clean my house, and prepare for this week's lessons. Oh well, the other things will get done soon enough (I hope!!!) ^_^

Felting

Today I went back to work on the bag that I was going to felt forever and a day ago. I stopped working on it as I sewed it together wrong and that would mean ripping it all out. Several months later, I finally ripped it out and started to restitch it. I took all the ripped out stitches and felted them into a ball in my bathroom sink. Here's what it looks like so far: I just made it so, it's a little wet and it has to dry. When I finish the bag I'll put this on it as decoration. ^_^

Spinning!

I did it!!! I tried a spinning wheel today! It was everything that I thought it would be! I had a great time tonight! ^_^ At first I had to show my skills on the drop spindle, and then my friend explained the differences between fibers. She's a weaver and a spinner. It was really amazing! She set me up on her Lendum wheel, which was great. The she had me try her Louret. I didn't care for the feel of that wheel at all. The first wheel I tried I totally loved! I was so happy to learn and today at school was great! ^_^

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

Today I spent the whole day cleaning my house up so I could get my Christmas stuff out. Normally, we wait to put the tree up after my birthday (this coming week), however, I felt the need to put it up today. First thing I did was clean the beams off. Here is how they look all year.

I have a tin can collection on the one side and a bottle collection on the other side of the room. For Christmas my tins come down and my nutcrackers go up. It's become a tradition in my family that I get one nutcracker a year. My mom started it about 12 years go now. I have only 10 in the picture... it took me a while to find number 11. After that ( yes, it took a while!) I had to get the spot for our tree ready. Here's the corner where it will go before I cleaned it. Here's the tree in it's box. This is the first year we have used this tree.

Here the tree standing. I just finished trimming it, but this pict I took before I trimmed it! Looks pretty good!

Diamonds

Last night I finished the diamond shawl I had been working on. It was a bit of a bear at the end! I had to pull out the last three rows 3 or 4 times. I bound it off last night but since I was at dance class and had no scissors, the final stitch fell off the needle and started to come apart. I fixed it after a fit of anger at it. I did this one on round needles, so I tied my needles in a knot to hold the final stitch until I could get home and cut the yarn and bind it off all the way.

Relaxing Morning

I still feel like I have too much to do, but I woke up more relaxed. Yesterday I just hit a state of almost panic over the amount of things I have piled on me. So what made me feel better? Nothing is cuter than a bunny bouncing around. I let Nesquick and Tira run around for a while with me today. Their old cage they had so much room to romp that they didn't need me to let them out. Now the cage they are in is a bit smaller so they need romp time. Here's Nesquick having fun.
Here's Tira looking crazy!

Uphill Battle

Some days it just seems like everything is an uphill battle for me. I have about five thousand things going on. I need to have a chat with a co-worker about something that happened. I have to update my resume. I have to call and fix a few things with my job and then I have to clean up my house.... ahhhhhh.... it feels like I have a thousand things to do!

Holiday Prep

Today my neighbor's were putting up their Christmas lights. It seems like everyone on my street has lights up already. It looks so pretty and I think that we are the only ones that don't have lights up right now. Maybe this weekend we'll think about putting some decorations up. ^_^

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

I went home to my mom and dad's house to help my mom get ready for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Here's the set table Thursday morning.

Here's the Turkey before it went in the oven. Here's the shrimp dip that my mom made as an appetizer. Here's the table right before we ate.

Yummy PIES! Thanksgiving was great. We had such a wonderful meal and then our annual Turkey Bowl of Trivial Pursuit. It was such a great time!

On Friday, Mom and I went shopping. However we did not go at 5 a.m. like some people. I got this cool bag at Victoria's Secret. We had a great time. Today I called a friend of mine from college who got engaged over Thanksgiving. I am SUPER excited for her! I've spent the day in my p.j.'s. It's been a great day!

We got our first ground covering of snow last night. Here's my backyard this morning.

Good Books

One thing that I love to do is read. I got this boxed set of books a week ago and I just finished the final book this morning. I had read the first book before and at that time I thought it was really wired. Then I got into it and loved it. It's about a girl who has nightmares that someone she knows is going to die. She tries to save them by figuring out what her nightmares mean. It's kind of cool once you get into it.

I Can Spin!

The first meeting was a success! When I got there it looked like I had stepped back in time. There were wheels everywhere! I was a bit shy and hung out by the door until a very nice lady named Carolyn asked me if I was new. Well, I guess I stood out like a sore thumb, but she grabbed my hand and said I needed to learn. What did I want to learn drop spindle or wheel? I chose drop spindle. She was so nice, she gave me some of her roving and loaned me a spindle. Before long I was feeling pretty good about my ability. Carolyn thought so too and dragged me into the middle of the circle to show off what I had done. Here is my first "skein" that I spun at the meeting.
I joined the guild and was able to sign out the spindle for some much needed practice at home. I also bought this cute roving called "frost." I am pretty excited about this and It's going to be a fun place to hang out! I can't wait until next month for the next meeting!!!

Spinning Day

Today is the third Saturday of the month. Of course this means nothing to almost everyone, but to me it means that I can go to the hand spinners guild today and learn how to spin. I am so excited! Also, randomly enough, last week before the hafla, I met a woman who knows how to spin, works for the same school system as me and also is taking belly dance! What are the odds of that??? I e-mailed her yesterday to see if she was going to be at this meeting, but she can't come. I'm off to it by myself. My friend who I was going to drag along told me that she will not be coming. Oh well, if I can travel to foreign countries alone, I can go to a spinning meeting alone! Anyway, it's become an obsession of mine to learn. However, the woman that I met who spins said that if I miss the meeting that she can teach me sometime! She also told me that the meetings are great fun! I have a few things to do first, but then it's off to learn some spinning!

Professional Belly Dancers

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! The belly dance superstars is so worth seeing!!! Even though we got home really late, it was amazing! I had a great time. It was my mom's first time to see belly dancing at all and she had a good time too! I bought a new hip scarf last night that is purple and violet. It has only beads on it, no coins! I wanted one that had no coins so it won't make a lot of noise. All the other ones that I have have TONS of coins on them! My friend bought two hip scarfs, a tee shirt and a pin. One of the hip scarfs her mom got her for Christmas. We had the most amazing time. We all met for dinner before hand and so at the show we were stuffed! The show was so cool. One of the girls was shimming so long that they brought out a drum for her. We thought "oh, she's going to stop shimming and play the drum." We couldn't have been more wrong! In fact, she kept shimming and stood on the drum and then danced on top of it! It was unbelievable!!! I loved every second of it! I hope they come this way again next year!

Superstars

Tomorrow night the Belly Dance Superstars troupe is going to be performing near my hometown. My friend and her mom are going to drive there with me. We are going to meet my mom at the show. I can't wait! They are a really famous troupe and they have been around the world. It's going to be awesome! The show starts pretty late, so we'll get home late. I'm going to be dragging on Thursday for my classes!!! I'm going to go to bed early tonight so I can sleep well after the show Wednesday!

Hafla Time

Last night was our belly dance hafla. Good music, good food and of course dancing! I did three student troupe songs and one duet with my friend. It was a great time! There was a raffle and so much food it was crazy! Here's one of the dancers with a candelabra on her head! It was awesome!

Yarn Explosion!

On Wednesday after belly dance, one of the instructors asked if I would bring some of my knitted pieces to sell at the performance on Saturday night. I've sold a few things to the owner there and I've got my biz cards out there, but this would be great! However, I do not have that much knit up for a show, so yesterday before work I made up a crazy little scarf pattern that uses some of my scrap fun fur up! I acutely was able to make 3 of them before I went to work. I made a 4th one before I went to bed. If I can make about a dozen of them to sell that should fill out my sell pile nicely. I have two wraps, one shawl (at this point, I'm trying to get a second one done!) and a triangle scarf. If I have a bunch of crazy scarfs then I think I'll be ok. I did ask my friends what they thought of my scarf creations, and they were a hit. Hopefully, people will like them enough to buy them at this here party!
Here's my scrap fur box... the pile is getting smaller! ^_^

Practice Makes Perfect?

Today was a busy busy day! I was running from school to a meeting to dance class. Before dance class we were able to practice our duet. We only have a few more days before the show. Tomorrow we are going to practice again and again! I'm sick of our song already, but I need to get the moves down perfect. I know about 1/2 the dance really well, just need to get the second 1/2 as well. I'm glad that we have time to work out the details and practice, practice, practice!!!

The Crazy Train Rolls On

As if my life isn't crazy enough, I just realized that our first belly dance performance with student troupe is on Saturday. I'm still working on my duet with friend. We worked on it Monday night and she helped me sew part of my costume together. This is so chaotic!
At school, yesterday my class went not so well. They are working on a project and that part was fine. However, there is only one example they have to share. Some of my friends did not like sharing and needed a little talking to. Today I am teaching my other class so hopefully it will go better.
Versace only needs two more full days of meds. Try getting meds into a mad rabbit. Not the easiest task in the world. He doesn't want to come out for them right now. Everyday it's a battle between us to see who will give in first. Maybe he'll be good after I log this blog in. My magic 8 ball says "most likely not." Oh sad.

Friday, November 03, 2006

Friday

It has not started out as the best Friday for me. First I have to Versace his meds. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get meds into a bunny that doesn't want to take them?? I couldn't even get him out of the cage today. My hubby had to wake up and help me with him. That was lots of fun.
Then I went to school. I have two schools that I go to, and the first one the kids have officially moved away. So, I was told to pack my things and that is that. I'm home relaxing before I have to go to my second school. Yesterday my second school lessons went amazing!!! Everything was great. We'll see what today brings.
Tonight I'm off to belly dance class and student troupe. Next week we have our first performance. I'm in 3 group dances now, and my friend and I are doing a duet. I'm nervous about the duet. My friend knows it and I don't. Great, I need to practice! The funny thing is that we created it, but I can't seem to remember it! Oh well...

Please Vote No!

Normally, as I rule I could care less about politics. I don't understand them, and I don't really care. However, this election I can not just sit by when there is an issue that I feel very strongly about.
One candidate is asking the people of New York to vote for English as our official language. I cannot and will not support this. My job yes, is to teach people English, but not at the cost of them losing their own language. The constitution of the United States of America does not have English as the official language for good reason. This country is a mix of people, cultures and languages. Without all this we would be pretty dull. Forcing English on us is not fair. They are asking us to forgot that there are other languages out there and that the people who come here with that knowledge of another language are not as valued as the ones who know English. I just can't understand that. Knowing more than one language is such an amazing attribute. I can not conceive of saying that the U.S., which is such a blend of people, could declare one language better than the other. I find this campaign an injustice to the people of this nation.
Normally as I said, I don't care a hoot about politics, however this is a hot button for me. Please don't let this happen!

Busy days

Everyday last week was so busy! I took the weekend to just relax. It was so nice. On Saturday I went to practice for our student troupe's first performance. After dancing for a few hours, I came home to just veg out. Sunday I just spent the day playing playstation. It was a great weekend.

Yarn Bliss

Yesterday my friend and I drove down to the New York State Sheep and Wool festival. It was AWESOME!!!!!!!! We had the most amazing time. We got there about 1/2 hour after the festival started and they were already out of maps. Next year we are going to go on Saturday. Many of the vendors were running out of items. We looked at some really cool knitting kits at one place, and by the time we came back we couldn't find the one that I liked any more. Most everyone was really nice and friendly. We did run into one women who was mad that I had the last variegated blue ball of yarn at this one shop. I really wanted it as it was a full pound of yarn! I had bought a pattern early in the day and this yarn would go perfectly with it. She told me I should look at another color because she wanted that one. Too bad for you honey, I wanted that blue one! My friend who was with me is over six feet tall, she was ready to take this women out if she tried to take that yarn from me! It's nice to have protective tall friends! Here's my pound of blue yarn!

We then went to one barn where they were having a llama jumping competition. It was really funny to watch. The owners would get the llamas running up to the jump, hand the rope over to someone else, and the llama would stop and just look at the jump. They would try to pull them over it, a few did actually jump it and it was really neat to see. The picture is a little dark, but you can see the llama and the jump it was supposed to go over. I also bought myself this great licenses plate cover.

We saw a women who was using a drop spindle and after a long chat with her I bought a drop spindle kit. It has the spindle, some roving wool and directions in case I forget what she showed us! And, finally, I bought this amazing shawl kit. Yarn, pattern and all!! It was the last one!

Hanging Out

I went to dance class tonight, but since my ankle is still is an air cast I couldn't really do much. It was fun to hang out with the owner after class. She was so excited when she found out that I can French braid. I haven't braided hair is about 5 years, so it was not the prettiest braid ever, but it was passable. I'm trying to grow my hair out so that I can braid it again, and that was how the whole thing came about. Oh well, it was nice to talk with the owner of the dance studio. She is a really sweet person and I love her positive attitude.

Yarn addict!

Friday afternoon my hubby was working on our bathroom project. He had just opened an access hole in the floor that runs from the second floor of our house to the basement. He warned me that it was there. I knew it was there, I even said that if I fell in it it was me sized. Of course, I fell in it. Luckily, I did not fall all the way to the basement. One leg in the hole, the other twisted and split out. Off to the hospital we went. I got off lucky; only a sprained ankle. Of course that meant no dance class Friday night.
My hubby felt so bad for me that he took me out to dinner. Yummy. Dinner was great, but they put us at a table FAR from the door. Normally, I'd love that, but being on crutches, not so fun! It's more of a workout that I thought it would be! At dinner I said that I wanted to stop at the yarn store because I'm not moving far from the couch at home, I need something to knit!
My hubby is an enabler. The word sale to my husband is like money to a banker. He LOVES sales. He sees a good deal and he stocks up! So, my yarn addiction was fed hardcore. Cheap fun fur and this soft plush yarn that I like was on sale! He INSISTED that I get 2 of every color fun fur (that filled one whole shopping basket) and enough soft yarn to make a surplus of shawls (another whole basket full of yarn). I love my husband!
Here's my new collection of yarn..... oh, think of all the projects I can make!!!!! *^_^*

Apple Picking

Hubby and I went apple picking on Thursday! We went our first year of marriage, but last year we didn't get out. So, this our yearly tradition is not so yearly! We picked 4 full buckets. Two buckets are for his parents, and two for us. We picked Northern Spys and Jonagolds. Yummy!!! I love fresh apples! I have to make apple crisp and a maybe a pie. Actually, I've never made apple pie, so now is a great time to learn! ^_^
Look how lovely they look.... just looking at them makes me hungry!

Chanel the Diva

This morning I thought it would be good to let Chanel and Versace out to run around for a while. They don't get out as often as I could let them due to the fact that I'm not always right here to watch them as they run around. Chanel is fine when she is out. Versace however gets into trouble. I have to watch him at all times. Today, he didn't feel like coming out to run. Chanel did! Here she is hanging out by me.

Then she checked out my slippers. "Hey that looks like me!"
"Look at me, I'm so pretty!"

"All the modeling makes me tired."

Here's Versace just chilling in his house.

Isar, the belly dancer

Last night at belly dance class we had our normal class. We've been working on learning tribal style as well as a Turkish choreograph. I love our choreography because it's so light hearted and fun. Tribal style is hard of me, we normally learn cabaret style at class. So, we started to learn slow tribal moves last night. We had been learning all fast moves until now. The slow is much harder in my opinion.
After class we had student troupe. This troupe meets once a month and it's just getting started. It started back in January, and we have been talking about performing since the go. However, our fearless leader is also the head of the professional troupe. She told us that after the pro troupe's season is over then she can start to think about the student troupe performing. Last night she told us that we ARE going to perform. It will be a big party at the studio so we are in a safe environment to perform our dances for the first time. She wants us to eventually go out and dance for restaurants and other venues of that sort. I think it's great!
We had to think about our Arabic names. We were asked to choose a name that A.) no other dance in the area had, B.) one that fit our personalities. I chose Isar, which means fascinating. I asked if our teacher thought it was a good fit for me. She said that since no one else has it, I could use it! So, now when I dance I am Isar!
We also thought about what songs we could dance to. We had a choice of five and I chose one that I really like. My group to dance with is 3 other women. Two of them I get along great with the 3rd one I don't know as well. My two friends are very tall and they are in the front row to dance. I am short as is the other women, so we are in the back. It's fine for me! We ran though our dance once and it was great! We had to not look in the mirrors so, it was much more challenging to do. We did it and we stayed in our formation! Our big party is in one month. I think we can be ready!
After class, I went out with one of my friends. She asked me if I would consider doing a duet with her for the party. I told her I would think about it. Today I am going to look at the music that we though would be good for us. I will try to count out the beats and see what she thinks about it. We are going to put together what we know and if it's not ready, then we won't do it.
Last thing that we need is to get our costumes together. As a group we were asked to get coin bar covers that match our hipscarfs. It should be fun!

Bubbly Celebration!

Yesterday I got the good news I had been waiting on... I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!The call came yesterday morning as an unofficial announcement. They asked me to think about the answer I would give when they called me back later in the day. Hummm... of course I said yes I would love it! I had to tell my tutoring job that I was done. I was a little sad to say good bye to them as the school was as great school. My student that I was tutoring was really sweet. I also went over to the school I was at last year to tell them my news and say good-bye for now! Maybe someday I'll work with them again, but for now, I'm moving on to my own school, my own class and my own students!!! I am really really excited about this! I have to go over today to verify everything and sign the contract. I'll go in on Tuesday to meet the kids and the staff! ^_^
My hubby was so excited that he took me out to dinner last night. We can't go out today because he has to work, so we celebrated last night! He took me out for a lovely dinner and then we came home and had some champagne. Yum. It was a great day yesterday! I know today will be just as good because I haven't calmed down yet about getting a job! What a great feeling it is and I feel less stressed today! ^_^

Interviewing and Demo Days

Yesterday I had an interview for a school district that is very small, but they want to grow. I loved the people who talked with me. They were really nice and their questions were all things that I could talk about with knowledge and ease. It felt really good. They had to have some more interviews before they can choose who gets the job. I felt like I did the best job that I could do!
This morning my hubby got very early and declared that he would work on the bathroom project. This means that we had to tear out part of the kitchen walls to fix all the electrical wires for the bathroom. My whole house is under demo right now, but every step means that it is closer to being put back together better that it was. This house is an electrical nightmare! One wire that we found had been nicked so they tried to fix it by taping it back together. Normally with electrical tape that would be a fine idea, however, they used cello tape which is NOT safe at all!!!!! We are really lucky there hasn't been a fire from all the crazy wiring that we've found! Slowly the whole house is getting up to date wires! It makes me happy every time we take out an old wire and throw it away! ^_^

Subbing System and an Interview

The past two days I've had the subbing system calling me. I am really excited that I have the chance to sub, however, yesterday I had to pass on it due to the fact that I was tutoring in the afternoon. Today I also had to pass because I have an interview.
I am really excited about this one. I hope that it works out for me! I want to find my forever school and my forever job soon!!! I hope this is the one for me! ^_^

Rainy Day Blues

Yesterday I subbed in a great building. It was nice to be teacher again even if only for a day! I did find some work as a tutor, but it's only a few days a week so I can still sub. I had a lot of fun yesterday!
Today it is raining. It's so gloomy out and yucky. I was working on my holy shawl, but I dropped my knitting needles when the phone scared me this morning. I've knit a few rows after that, but when I dropped it I lost a few of the stitches and I can't get the pattern to work anymore. Looks like I have to rip it out and start again!!! Oh man, I don't want to rip it out, but if I try to fix it it seems to be worse! Oh well... I'm just going to relax and start ripping out my shawl.

Angry Rabbits!

The past few days we have been working on building a new cage for Tira and Nesquick. Their cage is out of control big and they can't seem to use their litter boxes anymore! It's a big fat mess! So, hubby has been working on designing a new cage for them that is not so huge! Chanel and Versace will get the same style cage in a few weeks. They will be mirror images and they will all live upstairs together. No more bunnies living in my living room! The maybe I can move our 2nd couch up there so I can sit and knit with them. That's the goal anyway.
Today, I needed to put Tira and Nesquick in one part of their cage so I could start to take down the other parts. Here's the cage when I started. Can you see why I want to brake it down?

This cage has been taking over my upstairs for a year. Until now I was really happy with it. I loved that they had so much room to run and that we could give them all that space. Suddenly the loss of litter box use makes this huge cage a beast to clean! So, they are now living in a very small part of this cage. Here is Nesquick's angry face at me.

Tira was not as cute with her angry face. She is ANGRY! She is trying to eat her way out and keeps thumping her back foot at me. She is 3 lbs. of spit and fire! Tira is MAD at me!

Poor Nesquick, he is trying to make the best of it. He is such a gentile rabbit with a sad background. The shelter that we got him from told us he had been there 2 times and that we would be his 4th home. The last owner who had him abused him. How could you abuse such a sweet little face! I feel bad that he has to put up with Tira's furry, but she'll calm down eventually (I hope!). So, until Tira's tirade comes to an end I have to listen to her scurry around and chew the cage apart while Nesquick is trying to sleep. I knew that they would be mad, but I had no idea that they would get this upset! I hope they love the new cage when they move into it!
